Virus Removal?

Ok so my friend also has this virus that will not go away. Norton reports its name as Trojan Horse which doesn't help much. The infected file is called a.bat which is found in C:\. The auto-protect catches this file everytime the computer is booted or rebooted. Thanks.

sounds like it has put itself in your startup. To check go to run.regedit.then click ok. Look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wi...

CurrentVersion\Run

and see if it is there. CAUTION-when editing the registry always back it up first.

If Norton is locating it, why is it not getting rid of it?
