I use Comodo Firewall on my home computers. It works very well, as good as any of the subscription based firewalls.

There is a scan for known apps setting that will do most of the configuring for you.

Comodo also has their BOClean anti-spyware app. It scans real time. I would not depend on this app to completely protect me, but is does a nice job augmenting other anti virus and anti spy-ware programs.
