Why does my internet connection keep disconnecting?

My internet keeps disconnecting every once in a while. It's even worse when I'm playing a Steam game like TF2 or CS. As I'm surfing the web or most of the time while playing CS or TF2, it just stops working and i have to wait like 3 minutes for it to reconnect. I have Belkin Router and Comcast as my provider. I'm a wireless connection and with Belkin i'm connected with a Static connection (Which is what Belkin suggested I do if i kept getting disconnected). I'm not sure if it has to do with this, but i had a Satillite recently installed. Also, i have a Wii, and that WiFi is working perfectly. Not sure if it helps, but my adapter (or w/e) is Belkin 802.11g and the mode is 54g-Auto. And i was also suggested to have it WPA protected but I'm not sure what it means. It's slightly frustrating, and I was wondering if any of you guys know whats happening.

The fact that it's happening wirelessly on a 54G connection when it's getting a heavy load is a clue.

Make sure that the router is out in the clear, not on something soft (like a towel), not near a wall, and not on top of anything that generates heat (like the modem).

If it still happens, try running a little fan by the router, blowing air into the slots, before you start playing. And keep it running until you lose your connection - if you do.
